V – THE FLYING V AT BDO
The Brief
Show attendees at the 2011 Big Day Out an extraordinary way to engage with V.
Solution
We constructed a giant flying fox, the 120 metre long ‘Flying V’. It stretched from behind the main stage to the middle of the field. We brought in world experts, the makers of the world’s fastest flying fox to build it. Never has the Big Day Out been experienced this way. A 70kmph flight above the 40,000 strong main stage crowd. It made even the most extreme V fans grin nervously, yet it was completely safe.
To further enhance the ‘flyer’s’ experience, a professional photographer positioned on the landing platform, took shots of each ride. These shots were later viewed on a large screen and on the V Republic website.
Results
We sent over 400 people down the Flying V. Queues stretched as long as the ride itself. We also gave away 2000 V Pocket Rockets and signed up over 500 new V Republic members.
